Who is Loyalty NZ?

Loyalty New Zealand is New Zealand’s expert in customer loyalty, and runs the largest and most comprehensive coalition loyalty programme in New Zealand – Fly Buys.  In addition to this Loyalty New Zealand undertakes a range of marketing services for clients including customer insights, analytics, modelling and reporting under its brand Lab360.

The Role

The Data Engineer designs, builds, tests and automates data solutions to meet the needs of relevant stakeholders, both internal and external to Loyalty NZ. These solutions are built on big data technologies (consisting of platforms such as Hadoop, Hive, etc) to leverage the power of distributed computing systems to process the vast amounts of data generated by the Fly Buys loyalty programme. The Data Engineering team adopt many principles of software development, including and agile development approach centered around the software development lifecycle (SDLC), quality standards and processes. The Data Engineer is expected to contribute to the development of solutions that are of high calibre and fit for purpose in terms of usability, performance, functionality and availability, and is delivered to time and budget.

Loyalty New Zealand is undergoing an exciting transformation with many exciting projects that involve Data Engineering.  We are seeking expressions of interest from potential future candidates so that if a suitable vacancy becomes available, we can touch base with you. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about building solutions and creating value from data.  You will be familiar with big data processing and have proven experience working with cloud based big data technologies (AWS, Hadoop, Hive).  Naturally, the right candidate will have extensive experience working with SQL, with Python and Java highly beneficial.  A relevant tertiary quality is required.
