Who is Loyalty NZ?

Loyalty New Zealand is New Zealand’s expert in loyalty, and runs the largest and most comprehensive coalition loyalty programme in New Zealand – Fly Buys.  In addition to this Loyalty New Zealand undertakes a range of marketing services for clients including marketing campaigns and customer insights, analytics, modelling and reporting under its brand LAB360.

The Role

Due to a growing pipeline of projects, we have 2 fixed-term Data Engineer positions available (one for 6 months and one for 12 months). If building cutting edge data solutions, which empower business users to harness the potential of data, sounds intriguing, then one of these opportunities could be for you.

Working closely with the Technology & Product teams, the Data Engineer will design, build, test and automate data driven solutions leveraging our state of the art data platform in AWS. Not only will you have the opportunity to play with leading edge big data technologies, but you also get to build products that help organisations make smarter, faster, and more effective decisions. 

We are wanting someone who is passionate about data, about building data products and about data platform technology (especially AWS).

You’ll have:

  • A solid technical knowledge in data management & processing methodologies
  • Hands on experience with cloud technologies and big data tools (AWS, Apache, etc)
  • Extensive working knowledge of SQL and at least one programming language (e.g. Python)
  • Experience architecting data pipelines across multiple technologies and various data types (structured, semi-structured, etc)
  • Proven experience tuning big data solutions to improve performance and end user experience

Importantly you will also have a strong desire to learn new things, and it’s highly likely you spend your own time brushing up key data skills on sites like Udemy, Coursera, Codecademy, etc.

You’ll manage priorities well to meet deadlines, and proactively contribute new ideas to the team – collaborating to put team goals first.
