IMG 0031 Central to Fly Buys' reason for being is the idea of giving. It’s a simple analogy – quietly get rewarded for doing your everyday shopping. Through all the milestones – buying a house, travelling, home renovations, building families, birthdays, moving house and all the rest. It’s the cherry on the top of the cake!

I get to give away bonus points and rewards on our social channels on a nearly daily basis. From kids toys, the latest gadgets like fitbits, mobile phones and iPads– there are so many rewards to choose from. I’m often sending off rewards to people who have won competitions – I find myself wondering whether this person and their family will use their new iPad for their kids homework, or how much further through their home renovations this family will get after winning some brand new tools.

We get to make many peoples’ days that little bit better, and it’s a great pleasure to do that as part of my job. One particular giveaway saw the digital team tell one of our customers she had won 2 tickets to Simply Red at Mission Estate in Hawkes Bay; including three nights in a hotel with all the trimmings. We had to call the winner because the concert was such short notice and we had to get hold of them quickly so they could make their arrangements. I felt like I was ringing her to say she’d just won Lotto - the thrill in her voice was awesome to hear and it was extremely rewarding to deliver the good news. But that only makes up one small part of my job. Aside from being a virtual fairy godmother, the digital arm of the company affords me the opportunity to delve into all aspects of digital marketing campaigns – from strategy to deployment, as well as to become a content creator for the brand on our digital and social channels. Because of the rate of change in the online space, we’re continuously reading up on the latest technology trends, and looking at how we can adapt to these changes. It’s a really great, fast paced environment to be in.
